Our Nursing Team

What is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)? The RVT designation means that our techs have completed a two year university course in Animal Health Technology, and are current members in good standing with the BC Veterinary Technicians Association, which requires ongoing continuing education. This means our technicians are constantly upgrading their skills to better treat your pets. An RVT is comparable to a human nurse, assisting our veterinarians by taking blood samples, placing IV’s, taking x-rays, performing dental cleanings, and monitoring anesthesia.

Anne, RVT

Anne graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at the University College of the Cariboo (now known as Thompson Rivers University) over 15 years ago. Since then, she has had the chance to work with many species including: snakes, eagles, seals, frogs, and of course dogs and cats. The diversity and constant learning is what keeps her in this line of work. Anne has a special interest in anesthesia and intensive care. When not at work, she spends time with her husband and 2 daughters. She also enjoys knitting, camping and exploring the local trails.

Kelsey, RVT

Kelsey is our newest RVT, who joined the Huff Animal Hospital team in the summer of 2014. She graduated from the Animal Health Technology Program at Thompson Rivers University in 2014. She has a special interest in canine and feline dentistry and strives to provide the best care for all patients. At home, Kelsey has one canine friend named “Miko”, a Samoyed/American Eskimo mix. She also has two family cats. Kelsey loves the outdoors, and her favorite activities include snow skiing, boating, hiking & playing hockey. She loves working with animals. Her favorites are dogs and the birds of prey brought in by OWL- the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society.

We offer volunteer opportunities to those who wish to explore a career in animal health. Priority will be given to applicants who require prerequisite volunteer hours in order to apply to colleges and universities.
